Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) remains the preferred arrival point for travellers heading to Saint-Tropez: La Môle Airport, closer to the peninsula, is reserved for private jets and frequently closes in winter. For the vast majority of visitors, the road transfer from NCE is therefore the only practical option. - Distance: approximately 110 km via the main route (A8 + D25)
- Off-season journey time (October to May): 1h30 to 1h45 in free-flowing traffic
- High-season journey time (June to September): 2h00 to 2h45, with potential peaks on Friday evenings and July–August weekends
- A8 tolls: approximately €12 (Antibes to Le Muy), included in the Eminence Prestige fare
- Average fuel: a partial tank for an E-Class round trip
These journey times are measured door to door, from the NCE arrivals hall to the drop-off point (hotel, villa, marina). Meet & greet in the arrivals zone and luggage loading are factored into the schedule.
Main Route: A8 to Le Muy, then the D25
The standard route follows the A8 motorway in the direction of Aix-en-Provence. Departing from NCE, the chauffeur joins the A8 via the airport expressway, passing the exits for Antibes, Cannes, Mandelieu and Fréjus before reaching junction 36 — Le Muy / Saint-Tropez.
Beyond the toll, two options present themselves:
- D25 via Le Muy → Sainte-Maxime → Saint-Tropez (along the northern gulf). This is the most direct route, approximately 35 km from the Le Muy junction.
- D558 via La Garde-Freinet → Grimaud → Cogolin. More scenic, winding through the Maures massif, but slightly longer.
Off-season, the D25 remains clear and allows a steady transfer in under 1h45. This is the route our chauffeurs select by default.
Seasonal Alternative Routes
Between late June and early September, the D25 between Sainte-Maxime and Saint-Tropez becomes a bottleneck: a single road, the Pont des Issambres crossing, and beach traffic queuing from 4 pm. Our dispatchers switch to alternative routes tailored to the time of day and live traffic conditions:
- Fréjus exit + coastal road: exit the A8 at Le Capitou, cross Saint-Aygulf and Les Issambres, approach Sainte-Maxime along the corniche. Longer in distance but often faster at peak traffic times.
- Le Cannet-des-Maures exit + D558: a full inland bypass via La Garde-Freinet, used when the coast road is entirely at a standstill.
- Scenic coastal route: for guests with no time constraints, a spectacular drive through the Esterel massif, along the Corniche d'Or and across the bay of Saint-Raphaël. Allow 3h00, but the visual experience is exceptional.

High-Season Specifics at Saint-Tropez
In July and August, Saint-Tropez operates at exceptional intensity. Key points to anticipate:
- Beach road (Pampelonne): the Route de l'Épi and Route des Salins can be blocked for 30 to 60 minutes at midday. For a lunch at Club 55 or Nikki Beach, plan your departure well in advance.
- Friday evening arrivals: peak congestion on the A8 and D25. Transfers from NCE landing after 6 pm may see journey times reach 3h00.
- Cuers / La Môle helipad alternative: for time-critical guests, some opt for a combined car and helicopter transfer (on request; partner operators identified).
- Restricted village access: traffic is filtered within the historic village of Saint-Tropez. The chauffeur drops guests at the village entrance or at the exact address depending on the time of day.
